At Liberty Industries there are six specialized research departments:

Research & Development: Composed of engineering and alchemy, this department focuses on creating innovative products, tools, and equipment for the needs of Liberty Researchers and projects. They also create new inventions and products.

Tempering Studies: Pioneering new fields of research, this multi-disciplinary department seeks to solve the problem of tempering on Eorzea. They work to find and improve cures for tempering, and understand the creation of primals and the people who summon them. Primal Studies, Beast Tribe Studies, and other similar studies fall under this new field of research.

Cultural Studies: An intersection of history, culture, and archeology, this department encompasses all interests related to cultures and peoples of the past. They coordinate excavations and explorations of historical sites with an interest in uncovering and better understanding knowledge of the past.

Medical Department: A combination of medicine, chirurgery, and conjury. They manage and maintain the Liberty Clinic, seeing to all patients. They also create, develop, and improve different medical and healing techniques, tinctures, medicines, and magicks.

Applied Magicks: Dedicated to the application of magicks in everyday life. This department is invested in better understanding how magicks are already embodied every day, then adapt them into useful creations for others. Likewise, they also work to create new useful magical objects.

Aetherology:  The heart of Liberty Industries, all Liberty Researchers have some knowledge and working knowledge of aetherology. This department is specialized in the study of aether, its workings, and try to further that understanding of the operation of aether in our world. They also develop new ways to use and manipulate aether.
